Purchasing Manager

About the Role

We are seeking a hands-on, technically proficient Purchasing Manager to lead procurement activities in support of our compact Fusion power R&D and large-scale laboratory operations. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who thrives on working closely with suppliers and R&D teams to source, select, and procure the materials, components, and services that power innovation.
The position focuses on vendor identification, product selection, and direct ordering, with day-to-day involvement in sourcing and purchasing processes.

Key Responsibilities
• Own the end-to-end procurement process for lab materials, components, equipment and services – from needs provided by the R&D team to vendor delivery and inventory control
• Work closely with R&D teams to understand technical requirements, forecast needs, translate technical needs into procurement actions and align procurement with development plans and timelines
• Develop and execute annual procurement plans, including budgeting, supplier roadmaps, and long-term supply chain planning
• Actively source and negotiate with suppliers of lab materials, components, equipment and services - prioritizing quality, technical fit, and timely delivery
• Select products and issue purchase orders based on technical specifications, budget constraints, and project timelines
• Manage and execute purchasing activities through our ERP system (Priority), including order placement, follow-up, and documentation
• Track delivery schedules, resolve supply issues, release products from customs and coordinate logistics with domestic and international suppliers
• Manage receiving processes and inventory tracking, including handling and monitoring of critical and high-value components
• Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure reliability, transparency, and responsiveness
• Monitor costs, lead times, and inventory levels to support planning and optimize procurement performance

  • 4+ years of procurement experience, preferably in hardware startups, or lab-intensive environments

  • Proven experience with vendor sourcing, product selection, and order execution

  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and hands-on procurement execution and negotiations

  • Proficiency in ERP systems (Priority preferred), Excel, and data-driven decision-making

  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Management, or a related field (advantage)
