About the Role

nT-Tao is recruiting for a position of Physicist / RF and Microwave Engineer. The candidate will build and operate a state-of-the-art microwave laboratory, as well as develop, test, and integrate high-power RF and microwave systems. Key responsibilities include developing and operating high-power microwave sources, power delivery networks, matching networks, applicators, and antennas.

The role demands familiarity with RF test equipment, RF chains, passive and active RF components, antenna design, RF circuit and board design, and simulation software such as COMSOL, CST, HFSS, or similar tools. Expertise in wave propagation, EMI shielding, and strong problem-solving abilities are essential.

The candidate will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team, including physicists, engineers, and technicians, to ensure the successful implementation of RF and microwave systems.

Responsibilities include hands-on laboratory work, component selection (custom-designed or off-the-shelf), defining system requirements, overseeing design processes (documentation and design reviews), and performing experiments to validate system performance.

Candidates are expected to actively participate in analyzing experimental data, interpreting results, drawing conclusions, and effectively communicating findings through detailed reports and presentations.

  • MSc. or PhD. in Physics or Electrical Engineering (PhD preferred).

  • Enthusiasm and strong motivation for fusion energy and microwave engineering.

  • Team player with excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills, capable of working effectively with scientists, engineers, technicians, procurement personnel, and management.

  • Proven experience working in a physics or microwave laboratory, particularly in high-power RF environments.

  • Hands-on experience with RF test equipment and systems, passive and active RF components, antennas, and RF circuits.

  • Proficiency in EM simulations using COMSOL, CST, HFSS, or similar simulation software.

  • Expertise in wave propagation and EMI shielding techniques.

  • Strong analytical skills for problem-solving, including diagnosing and mitigating RF-related issues.

  • Experience in data processing and analysis using Python, MATLAB, or equivalent.

  • Strong scientific writing and presentation skills.

Requirements

Advantages

  • Previous experience with high-power microwave sources (e.g., magnetrons, klystrons).

  • Experience in RF circuit and PCB design.

  • Familiarity with mechanical and electrical hands-on assembly.

  • Project management or systems engineering experience.

  • Experience with power electronics and high-voltage systems.

  • Familiarity with vacuum systems and high-pressure systems.
